Brightwork
ShopDev Alliance connects developers, agency owners, and app founders across more than 20 countries, but most of that happens behind a keyboard. Brightwork is where we get in the same room.
It's a series of developer-first events built for the people doing the work on Shopify: talks with real technical depth, the hallway conversations you usually only get in DMs, and the community you already know, in person.
Why Brightwork?
It's a sailing term. On a ship, the brightwork is the brass and finished wood that someone has chosen to keep looking sharp. The sea is always working against it, so it stays that way only as long as someone keeps tending to it. The job is never really done, and that's the whole idea.
We took it as the name for what this community does. Good Shopify work is the same kind of ongoing craft. The platform keeps changing, the hard problems keep arriving, and quality comes from the care you put into the parts most people will never see. Brightwork is for the builders who hold that standard and keep showing up to it.
Inaugural event
Our first one lands right after DotDev in Toronto, on July 23, 2026. One day, the people building with Shopify, together. The first of many, in more places to come.
